I will say this about this Samsung Electronics Samsung 840 Series SSD 500 GB SATAIII. It is definatly the most
affordable and you won't have any problems with compatibility but again
it definatly is not the best. OWC is king. Another awesome thing about
this Samsung Drive is the software it comes with. Excellent product. Top notch quality. Very reliable.
It comes with
Samsung's Magician Software where you can do benchmark tests for this
drives and other drive, firmware updates among many other things, etc. This Samsung Electronics Samsung 840 Series SSD 500 GB SATAIII drive is a good buy and a good product but if you are going to make
the investment go with OWC.
Windows 8 and Windows 7 both have native support for SSDs, which
provides for properly cleaning SSDs of errors and deleted data that will
eventually slow them down (defragmenting SSDs like a magnetic drive
will ruin them).
- Optimized to improve everyday PC productivity, including web-browsing, email, multimedia and gaming
- Enables you to boot up your computer in as little as 15 seconds
- Energy efficient - improves battery life by up to 50 minutes
- Solid-state design provides greater shock protection for data and brushed metal case blocks dust and corrosion
- Worry-free data security with AES 256-bit full-disk encryption
Did a lot of research on this Samsung Electronics Samsung 840
Series SSD and it is definitely the best buy for your money.
Applications like Photoshop open much faster and gaming performance is
great. In all, it's a great buy and easy to install. I purchased the
500GB model but I recommend any of the available capacities. Love it!
Here is some advice for you, reading all those 'steps to install ssd':
- Ignore all of them. Just change your hdd for your ssd and make a clean windows installation.
- Format it, install windows and it's done. No Samsung software, no migration software, no registration.
- This is the BEST (and most secure) way to do it.
I know SSD's are fast, but the previous one I bought was a Kingston
HyperX 3K 120 GB SATA III which was never as reliable as this
Samsung Electronics Samsung 840 Series SSD 500 GB SATAIII 2.5-Inch MZ-7TD500BW
drive. The Kingston failed to boot several times ("Operation System Not
Found") and required a second boot to get it going. Nothing but speed
and satisfaction from this Samsung drive.
That’s a awesome article you posted...I am very much interested to buy Ssd now . Can you share Ssd prices ..I will come back to read some more. Thanks for sharing the information.
